Message from Clay

Embrace your dreams …they may just come true. This year has proven that to me more than ever. I just completed my rookie season on the FLW Tour with a good showing on Lake Champlain. I finished the event just one fish short of a complete limit. This time last year, I dreamed of fishing on one of the top professional tours, but I never imagined that it would happen so soon. It did. Remember when it comes to your dreams … If I can You can.

June’s Recap

Clay started the month with a speaking engagement at Faith Baptist Church in Moulton, Alabama. Following his speech there, Clay traveled to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where he spoke to the congregation at Myrtle Beach Community Church. Clay returned home to prepare for the final FLW Tour stop on Lake Champlain in New York. Clay had an awesome practice preparing for Champlain. During the tournament, Clay caught lots of fish and finished just one fish short of a complete limit.

July’s Outlook

Clay will begin the month by speaking to the Family Fellowship Church in Greenville, Texas, on July 2. Clay will then spend some time in Alabama working on expanding his skill set. Clay will finish the month by traveling to Conroe, Texas for a speech on July 27 and to North Little Rock, Arkansas for a speech to Calvary Baptist Church on July 30.

Question and Answer with Clay

Q. What is the most common reaction to the challenges you face?

A. Each time I have a challenge or adversity arise I automatically start working to figure out a way to beat or accomplish it. Usually it might take a few days or so, but I continue to work to develop different methods or mechanics to defeat whatever the challenge might be...and I continue to work until I accomplish the task of defeating the challenge. With the power of prayer and my faith God provides me with the tools needed to accomplish any challenge that comes my way.

Q. How do you eat?

A. If I am eating foods that require utensils, I place the fork or spoon between the appendage on my partial arm and between there and my nose and maneuver the food onto the fork or spoon. Then I use the end of my arm to tilt it up and into my mouth. If I’m eating a sandwich, I balance it on my arm and then bring the sandwich to my mouth with it on my arm. As for drinking, I pick up the drink with my mouth and either balance it with my arm or with the drink clinched in my mouth. I tilt the drink up with the end of my arm.

Q. Where do you want to travel to that you haven’t been?

A. Of all the places I’ve had the opportunity to travel, I have never been to the Oregon and Washington areas, and I would really like to go up there if I get the opportunity.

Q. What is a vacation for Clay Dyer?

A. Being a professional bass tournament angler keeps me very busy and actually when I do have some slack time, I love doing a variety of things including going fishing or hunting and going to collegiate sporting events such as football, baseball, and basketball. I’m also a huge fan of the Atlanta Braves baseball team. All of these things give me a very relaxing time away from a busy schedule.

If you have a question for Clay, please email it to qnawithclay@smgoutdoors.com and we will make sure it gets submitted to Clay. Needless to say, he will not be able to answer every question. He will, however, attempt to answer 3 or 4 representative questions each month.

Clay’s Inspiration from JuneActually, this is from the first weekend in July. Clay spoke at Family Fellowship Church’s youth outreach project, "The Attic." "The Attic" is a place where youth can come hang out and enjoy numerous games and activities in a positive environment. It includes video games, pool tables, a diner, a café, indoor basketball goals, etc. It draws a diverse group of youth from across the community. It’s amazing to see what can be accomplished when people focus their efforts on others. Clay thought the questions he received from the youth were the best he had ever received. Keep up the good work!

Clay’s Challenge for July

Please continue to pray for Clay’s safe travels and that he would continue to be a positive inspiration and role model for all with whom he comes into contact.

Thanks again for your support of Clay and your assistance in helping him to live his dream. Until next month….
