Message from Clay
The holiday season is my favorite time of year, because families come together to share and give thanks for the many blessings they have received. The season begins with Thanksgiving and ends with Christmas and a celebration of the birth of Christ and the beginning of a new year. I have been so blessed this past year, and your prayers, support and assistance have provided an opportunity for me to share a message of hope and encouragement with many people all over the country. I am so thankful and fortunate to have had this opportunity, and I look forward to an even more fruitful year in 2008. Remember, if I can you can.
September and October Recap
In September Clay fished the FLW Series tournament on Lake Champlain in New York State. Following this he traveled to Luverne, Alabama to speak at a Fisherman’s Banquet at the Taylorville United Methodist Church. In September Clay also spent a few days in Seattle, Washington, as the guest of the Seattle Seahawks at the game against Cincinnati, and he visited with the team on the field prior to the game. On September 26th Clay was the guest of the Crenshaw County School District, speaking to the students at three schools in the Crenshaw district. In between his participation in the FLW Tour and FLW Series fishing tournaments, Clay continued to be an active supporter of his local high school football team by attending games and acting as an assistant coach. In October Clay fished the FLW Series tournament on Pickwick Lake in Florence, Alabama. On October 18th, Clay spoke at the First Baptist Church in Hartwell, Georgia. He then traveled to Greenwood, South Carolina for a speaking engagement at the First Baptist Church on October 22nd and 23rd. On October 25th Clay spoke at Walker Freshman High in Walker, Louisiana near Baton Rouge.
Outlook for November and December
One of the highlights for November will be the annual C.A.S.T. event at Cape Harbour, Florida on November 3rd and 4th. Thirty-seven disabled children from the Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida will spend the day fishing with local boat captains, professional anglers and professional football players for a fun-filled day in the Gulf of Mexico. Clay, as National Spokesman for C.A.S.T. for Kids, will be present at the event and will fish with the kids trying to catch Saltwater Snook. On November 11th and 12th Clay will speak at the Hernando Baptist Church in Hernando, Mississippi, and on December 16th Clay will travel back to Mississippi to speak at the First Baptist Church in Saucier. December and the holiday season will provide Clay with some much needed "down time" and time to celebrate the holidays with family and friends before starting the 2008 tournament schedule.
Questions and Answers with Clay
Q. How fast does the Ranger boat you use on tour run?
A. My Ranger does very well considering it weighs approximately 2,000 pounds. It will go about 72 mph. I run an Evinrude High Output 225 E-Tec, and that engine is incredible!
Q. What kind of line do you prefer to use in heavy cover?
A. I prefer Berkley Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon 15-25 lb. test in most situations such as docks or wood cover. If I am fishing grass mats, the majority of the time I use Berkley Spiderwire UltraCast in the 50lb. or 65 lb. test. When I do not use the Berkley Spiderwire UltraCast, I use the Berkley Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon in 20 lb. or 25 lb. test.
Q. What is your favorite time of year to fish?
A. I would say early spring to the first part of summer. I love it because it is the pre-spawn time going into early summer.

Clay’s Inspiration for November and December
I try to wake up every day with the attitude that I am going to win and be significant and successful. I realize how blessed I am to be able to do what I truly love to do. There are days that present obstacles that are tough to overcome….but that is life! I think about the people involved with the organization C.A.S.T. for Kids and the challenged people we work with who, despite their situations or circumstances, are happy and full of exuberance and life inspite of the adversities they encounter. This makes me strive even harder to continue to do what I can do and have the opportunity to do as C.A.S.T.’s National spokesperson, to help them make their dreams come true.
Clay’s Challenges for November and December
I want to thank all of you for all your prayers and thoughts. Please pray that my health and strength will continue to be strong as I continue my busy schedule for 2007 and go into 2008. Thank you and God. Bless you all.
